I decided to go for a quick, easy eat. I did a bit of a Google search, and Surf n Turf Takeaways showed up. The reviews seemed very promising, so I thought I would try it. I initially thought it was a fish and chip shop, but it offers more than that, hence why it calls itself a Takeaway. You can dine in with limited seating, or as per most customers, they would have it take away.

I decided to try the Surf n Turf brisket sandwich and some loaded fries with cheese in brisket with some aioli and sriracha. When the food came, I was taken aback by the quantity of food, especially with the loaded fries, as it was packed to the brim of the takeaway box. The loaded fries, were really good. It was packed with the burnt ends of the brisket, and went really well with the cheese, aioli, and sriracha sauce. There was so much food in there, I didn’t even manage to finish or make a big dent in the loaded fries. It tasted so good, and I wanted more, but I just couldn’t eat it.

The brisket sandwich was also delicious. There were thick pieces of tender brisket, caramelised, onions, capsicum, and garlic prawns all in a ciabatta bread roll. I honestly have to say it was one of the best brisket sandwiches. I have actually eaten. Everything worked so well together and the brisket was so tender.

Looking back, I wish I had gone here on an empty stomach. The serving sizes are significant, and you must share the food with someone else. Also, I wanted to try a milkshake, but thankfully, I didn’t order one as I seriously would have been sick. A must try place in New Plymouth.
