Labour weekend, and I decided to head up to Auckland. Although I didn’t have a car, I decided to head to Peaches. I have never been before, and people have been talking about it quite a bit, so I thought, let’s try Auckland public transport and see if I could get there. Likely enough, Peaches is close to a transport hub, so it was not as difficult as I thought it would be to get there. I arrived just after opening, and the place was not very busy. I ordered some fried chicken with biscuit and gravy on the side and some filter coffee.

The filter coffee they use. Here is the Supreme Coffee. The coffee they had had a nice dark chocolate flavour and robust flavour. I decided not to go for cream or sugar with my coffee and just went black.

My chicken and biscuits arrived. I decided to go for their Lil’ Dark, which consisted of a leg and thigh and went with the biscuit and sawmill pork gravy or the side. I regret that I only went with the mild plus mild plus spice. It didn’t even scratch my throat; however, the chicken was nicely cooked, and I liked the coating they put on their chicken. I also appreciated the excellent pickles and bread underneath to help me eat the chicken with my hand. The biscuit was covered with the sawmill pork gravy and was one of the best biscuits I have had outside of America. It was nice and crispy on the outside and warm and soft on the inside. The pork gravy had a nice kick to it and had pork bits that you could see and taste.

Now I know how relatively easy it is to get here, either by bus or train. I will make an effort to try this place again in the future. I think next time, I would like to either try their wings or their fried chicken and waffles. Overall the service was excellent, and I like the vibe the place has.
