I found a Malaysian place close to my hotel, so I thought I had to try this place as I am a real fan of Malaysian/Singaporean cuisine. This place is a lot smaller than I thought looking from the outside, but it is nice and cosy, with a little courtyard space where you can eat as well.

I decided to order some wonton soup and Haianese chicken rice. I originally wanted the fried version; however, I later discovered that they had sold out. The chicken came out first, and I was slightly surprised to see no bone in the chicken. However, I was pleased to see it was the dark meat of the chicken, not the white. Underneath the chicken were beansprouts, and of course, there was some housemaid chilli sauce. Overall, the chicken was tender and had a nice flavour with the soy sauce and chilli. I also liked their version of the garlic rice, as it was fragrant and had nice flavours. Everything went well together. I just wish there was a bit more chilli sauce on the side.

The wonton soup was overall pretty good. The soup was nothing overly special and just tasted like a Chinese soup should. I am not 100% sure, though, if they use MSG or chicken powder to make the soup. The wontons were of nice size with prawn meat. As I said, a good dish but not a must-have item from the menu.

Overall, it is not a bad place to eat. It seems a popular eatery for the locals, and overall, it is not badly priced. A nice place to try, but I don’t think I’m in a hurry to return.
