I headed to this place for breakfast. It was only a 12-minute walk, so I thought, why not? What is wrong with a good bowl of rice for breakfast?
I ordered the famous braised pork rice, a braised duck egg, and a piece of stewed pork. The duck egg was nice. I might try this at home by boiling some chicken eggs into my soy sauce chicken stock. The egg had a nice flavour and went well with the pork and rice.

The braised pork rice was nice. However, I thought it was potentially slightly overrated compared to what I had read. The seasoning was good; I loved the short-grain rice. However, I just wanted a bit more flavour to the small pieces of pork. However, adding my stewed pork, which was a strip of pork belly cooked in the same braising sauce, was a brilliant idea. The flavour from the fatty pork belly and the extra braised sauce was a great combination, and it just gave the overall braised pork rice an extra lift of flavour.
Ordering here is not as easy as you think it is. You have to grab a piece of paper with the menu. Be careful to get the right menu, their dine-in or takeaway menu. If dining in, you must find a seat at a table, write down your table number, decide what you want on the piece of paper, then take it to the cashier and pay. Then go back to your seat, and your food comes, which for me was five seconds after I sat down.
Overall, it was with a visit. For me, even though the braised pork rice needed some flavour, adding the pork belly to my order and then adding it to my rice made the whole thing worthwhile.
