I was walking around Melbourne alleyways and discovered this place. Bekemono is located in what looks like an old parking garage/storage space, and they even bake in this location. There was a line of people waiting to buy some baked goods, so I thought I would have a closer look by searching them on Google Maps and reading the reviews. After looking at the reviews, I decided to line up and see why people are talking about this place.

I decided to try the almond and yuzu croissant and one of their canalé. I do have to say they all looked very appetising, and I was eager to give them a try. The almond croissant was delicious, and I liked the citrus yuzu flavour with the almond essence. A nice crisp croissant that is flaky and tasty. The canalé had a lovely crispy toffee-like outer skin and soft centre. I really like the flavours of this canalé.

Overall, I would rate the offerings that I tried from this bakery. It is a small location with nowhere to sit, so you just have to get it takeaway. They also offer coffee. However, if you are limited on time and want a croissant, I would still recommend going to Lune, either the one in the city, which for Sam could be a bit of a mission, or even better, the one in Fitzroy.
