I went to try Lulu’s, which appeared on my Instagram reels while I was researching places to eat in Melbourne. It was rated highly on Google, so I wanted to go. Also, while in Melbourne, whenever I walked past, there always seemed to be some kind of line.
I ordered their razor clam Char Koay Teow and a hot Teh Tarik. The drink came out first and was actually really nice, as the evenings were a bit on the chilli side. I also got the crackers on the side, which were nice to dunk in the tea.

The Char Koay Teow arrived a bit later, and the dish’s smell excited me. Besides the Razor clams, three giant juicy prawns were also included. You could also see the bits of pork fat that had become all crispy due to it being rendered in the wok. The rice noodles were fresh, and you could smell the wok he and the prawn paste used in the dish. Every bite of this dish made me happy. Everything just worked so well, and there were plenty of razor clams. What would have been a bonus if they added a bit of sambal on the side of the dish just to give the option to change the flavours a bit.
Overall, I was very impressed with this place. The line moved relatively quickly, and the wait for the food did not take long. It is an easy place to eat due to its limited menu, but I suspect they know what they do well and just do those dishes.
