I’ve been eager to try Broke Boy Taco for some time now. It’s been generating quite a buzz, and I finally got to visit when I wasn’t in Auckland for work. Wanting to beat the crowds, I arrived early, only to find they had relocated next door from their original spot.

Feeling a bit indulgent, I decided to sample a variety of items; two. I ordered three tacos and their Birria Ramen. The tacos were fantastic. The cheese gave them a satisfying crunch, and the beef was incredibly flavorful and tender. I was pleasantly surprised by the onions and cilantro, and the orange sauce added a nice kick. The birria dipping sauce took the tacos to another level, despite making them a bit messy—but when the food tastes that good, who cares about a little mess?

I really liked the bowl that the Birria Ramen was served in; it’s clever marketing. It features cooked noodles, slow-cooked beef, the flavorful beef sauce it’s cooked in, diced onions, their homemade orange sauce, cilantro, and cheese. The combination makes for an outstanding bowl of noodles. Their sauce is incredibly tasty and bursting with flavour. Also, put some lime juice in there. I put some lime juice that I had left over from my tacos and also put the wedge in the bowl. Totally lifted this dish to the next level. Next time, I will ask for an extra lime wedge just for the ramen. The portion of beef is generous, and the cheese with the noodles is delightful. It’s a fantastic dish, with an innovative twist of using noodles instead of tacos in the beef gravy.

I can see why this place is popular. The food is dam good. I saw many people order their corn chips with salsa, which must be a good sign. The food is well-priced, and I love everything about it. All super tasty. Also, it looks like Broke Boy is going to expand. I wonder where.
