I had a late lunch today and opted for something lighter. After browsing through my Instagram food bookmarks, I stumbled upon Toasty in Auckland CBD. Being a fan of Korean grilled sandwiches, I was eager to try it, especially given its impressive 4.9 rating from 46 Google reviews.

I decided to go for their Mc. Galbi and Mangotcha. The Mc. Galbi, crafted for the 2024 Great NZ Toastie Takeover competition, featured Double Tteokgalbi (Korean style patty), cheddar cheese, scrambled egg, fancy lettuce, McClure’s pickles, house-made McClure’s pickles sauce, and parsley. It was absolutely delicious. The Tteokgalbi brought a delightful sweetness, the scrambled egg was thick and fluffy, and the pickles provided a perfect sour crunch. Overall, a fantastic sandwich.

As a mango enthusiast, I couldn’t resist trying the Mangotcha. This drink, made with honey, mango, milk, and house-made matcha cream, was a true delight. I loved the layers, starting with the mango puree at the bottom, followed by milk, and topped with matcha cream. Mixing it all together created a winning combination.

In conclusion, I’m thoroughly impressed with Toasty and might visit again while I’m still in Auckland. The freshly baked bread and high-quality ingredients, along with the friendly owners who clearly enjoy what they do, made a lasting impression on me.
