After some shopping, we realised we needed to find somewhere to eat. Time was running out, though, as it was New Year’s Eve, and even though it was only 7 PM, many places were already closing. We left the train station and ended up at a sushi train restaurant.
The staff seated us quickly, and we got to work ordering food. I wasn’t particularly hungry, but I wanted to try various dishes, so I placed about three rounds of orders. My selections included chawanmushi (Japanese egg custard), a 3-piece shellfish sushi set, inari, a salmon roe hand roll, flame-seared shrimp with mayo and cheese, flame-seared salmon belly with soy sauce, flame-grilled eel, and flounder fin.

Overall, the sushi was delicious. The chawanmushi arrived steaming hot, and after adding a bit of soy sauce, I discovered it had seafood hidden at the bottom, including squid, prawns, and fish. The 3-piece shellfish sushi set included a piece of red clam, scallop, and another shellfish, which I enjoyed. The inari—sushi rice wrapped in fried tofu—was also very tasty.

The flame-seared shrimp with mayo and cheese was an interesting dish. The cheese flavour didn’t overpower the shrimp and worked surprisingly well. I was curious about the flounder fin, but it wasn’t my favourite. However, the night’s standout was the salmon belly, flame-seared with soy sauce—absolutely delicious.

All in all, it was a solid place to eat. The service was satisfactory, though understandable, given the holiday rush. The sushi came out at a good pace, and I enjoyed the experience of having food come around on a conveyor belt.
