After watching my nephews play basketball, my brother took us to grab a late lunch at Luke’s Bánh Mì. Despite the time, the place was still bustling, and we waited over 20 minutes for our food.
I decided to order Luke’s Pork ‘n Pork, Generous serve of Crackling Pork, cured & marinated for three days, achieving a perfect balance of flavour & texture with a crispy skin, combined with Lemongrass Pork, marinated using a secret honey & lemongrass recipe passed down through generations and cooked over charcoal for an authentic taste. When I finally got my bánh mì, I was genuinely surprised by how generously filled it was. The roll was packed with pickled carrots and two types of pork, all inside a crisp, freshly baked baguette.

It wasn’t the easiest to eat; it was absolutely stuffed, but that added to the experience. The crackling was incredibly crispy, giving a satisfying crunch with every bite, and the lemongrass pork was full of flavour. All the ingredients worked together beautifully, creating a well-balanced and delicious lunch.
If I had one small critique, it would be the chilli. It wasn’t spicy enough for my taste, or I didn’t get much of it in my roll.
All in all, this was a fantastic bánh mì, and at just $12, it’s a great value. Watching how they prepare the rolls was also interesting—they pre-fill the base with veggies and sauces, then add the meats based on each order, which keeps things efficient and consistent. I can see why this place is so popular. It’s well worth the visit.
