My brother and his family are also in Hong Kong right now, and occasionally my oldest nephew gets to choose where we eat—he’s a bit of a budding foodie himself. While we were walking around Sheung Wan, he spotted a dumpling place that caught his eye. He was getting hungry, and to be honest, I was lucky he did—I hadn’t had lunch yet, and it was already around 3 p.m. So we decided to stop in for a quick bite to tide us over until dinner.
I ordered a plate of pan-fried dumplings filled with pork mince, black fungus, and cabbage, along with their black fungus salad.

The salad was a standout—refreshing and full of texture. The black fungus had a satisfying crunch, mixed with diced garlic and red onion. The dressing was a great balance of vinegar and soy sauce, giving it that perfect sour-savoury kick.
The dumplings arrived a bit later, as expected, since they were cooked to order. They came out beautifully crisp on top and nicely presented. The filling was flavorful, and the dumplings were a good size, just enough to hit the spot without being too heavy.
Overall, everyone left satisfied. It was great to have freshly cooked dumplings, and the shop itself was a charming little place—clean, modern, yet still retaining the humble feel of a traditional Chinese eatery.
