It was time for dinner, and while we were doing some shopping at Langham Place, we found ourselves in the food court weighing our options. The place was packed and clearly popular with locals, but since we were in Hong Kong, we figured we could do better than mall food, so we decided to venture out.
We started wandering the streets of Mong Kok, hoping to stumble upon something good. After a quick search, I found a nearby roast meats spot with great reviews: Ki’son. When we arrived, there was already a line, and we ended up waiting over 20 minutes for a table for five.

The restaurant is quite small, so we were initially seated at two separate tables. But after a short wait, we were able to sit together and enjoy a proper meal. I ordered the roast goose and barbecue pork on rice, along with an iced lemon tea—a must, given the heat outside.
My food arrived surprisingly quickly, and it looked amazing. The vegetables on the side were cooked just right—tender but still with some bite, and well-seasoned. But the real stars were the meats.
The barbecue pork was outstanding: soft, tender, and full of flavour, with a slightly charred, crispy edge from the molasses glaze. The roast goose was also excellent—nicely roasted, well-seasoned, and I was lucky enough to get cuts that weren’t overly fatty.

This place was a real find, with only locals eating here and it also seems to be a popular spot for takeaways. I’m so glad we chose to wait it out. The service was quick, in that no-nonsense traditional Cantonese style, and the food absolutely delivered—flavorful, satisfying, and authentic. I’m already thinking about going back… assuming I don’t get stuck inside thanks to this incoming typhoon.
