Last day in Hong Kong, and I was on a mission to finally try the Australian Dairy Company. I had actually attempted to go the day before during the typhoon, but it was unfortunately closed. So I made an early start and arrived around 7:30 a.m., where I joined a short queue outside. Luckily, being a solo diner worked in my favour—I was seated in under 90 seconds.
As I stepped inside, the place was already buzzing. Every table was full, with diners packed in tightly and strangers sharing tables. It was chaotic in the best way—classic cha chaan teng energy.
I ordered their well-known breakfast combo, which included scrambled eggs and toast, macaroni soup with ham, and an iced milk tea. Additionally, I added a steamed milk pudding with egg whites.

The food came out impressively fast. The macaroni soup with ham arrived at my table within 45 seconds of ordering, with the eggs and toast following shortly after. The macaroni soup instantly took me back to my childhood—such a simple dish, just broth, macaroni, and sliced ham, but full of nostalgia. My grandmother used to make something similar, although she’d often add a few extras. This version was stripped back, but so comforting in its simplicity.
The scrambled eggs were next level—light, fluffy, and full of flavour. Paired with thick slices of buttered toast that soaked up just the right amount of oil from the eggs… it was perfection in its own unpretentious way. The iced milk tea, which was only an extra $2 HKD, had a great balance. It wasn’t too strong or bitter and had just the right amount of sweetness.

Then came the steamed milk pudding with egg whites, served hot. It was silky smooth and subtly sweet, a gentle treat to round out the breakfast. You could definitely taste the egg whites, and it made me wonder if they use the leftover yolks to enrich their scrambled eggs. If so, it definitely works.
What a dining experience. Now I completely understand why the Australian Dairy Company is so popular with both locals and tourists. The food is affordable, served lightning fast, and actually really good. There’s no lingering, no chatting—just sit, eat, and go. It’s a place with a clear purpose, and it absolutely delivers.
I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in Hong Kong.
