I needed a coffee to start my day, so I headed over to Receptionist Coffee, tucked away on a little side street just off High Street. I’d known about the place for a while but had never actually been inside. I’d also heard they bake their own croissants and pastries, which made it even more tempting.

I was in the mood for something cold, so I ordered an Iced Americano and an almond croissant. The croissant was excellent—beautifully layered with a rich almond paste that was flavorful without being too sweet or overpowering. As for the coffee, the Iced Americano really hit the spot. Strong, smooth espresso and just the right amount of water—exactly the refreshing pick-me-up I needed.

Receptionist Coffee is a great little espresso bar with some seriously good pastries. Interestingly, there was no menu. I had initially hoped for a pour-over, but the barista mentioned they were only serving espresso-based drinks. When I asked for something cold without milk, she recommended the Iced Americano. No regrets—it turned out to be precisely what I wanted. Still, I’d be curious to try their pour-overs.
