Slice is a new addition to the Wellington food scene, taking over the former premises of Dough Bakery. It’s the latest venture from the team behind Pickle & Pie and Dough Bakery. While the focus has shifted, the quality remains high. The menu now centres around pizza—mainly deep-dish slices with a focaccia-style base—alongside a few other Italian-inspired treats.
Seating is minimal, but on a sunny day, it’s easy to take your food just 50 metres down the road to a nearby grassy area.
I ordered two slices: one with pork and fennel sausage and broccoli, and another with pepperoni, mozzarella, and hot honey. After ordering, slices are reheated in the oven. Be aware this can take a while, especially if there’s a steady stream of customers—your wait depends on what’s already in the oven and how many people are ahead of you.

Once served, you can add a great selection of extras to your pizza, including chilli oil, pesto, and more hot honey. I went all-in with the toppings. I chose to eat at the bench inside, which conveniently had a basil plant nearby—so I added a few fresh basil leaves to each slice too.
Also, I got a Cannoli, which is filled with lemon-flavoured creamy filling with a crisp pastry shell and dipped into some chocolate. This cannoli was very easy to eat, and I ate it in two bites.
Overall, Slice is a solid option for a quick, affordable lunch—especially if you’re craving something hearty and flavourful. The slices were super tasty, and I really love the extra sauces and other items you can put on top of your pizza.
