I first heard about this place from an older Chinese man on social media who shares food recommendations around Hong Kong. His videos are entirely in Cantonese so that you won’t see many tourists following him, but he gave this spot a great review, so I decided to try it for myself.
All Day Chicken Lab is located along the Ladies’ Market in Kowloon. It can be a little tricky to find—you either have to walk along the narrow footpath or keep peeking between the market stalls.
When I arrived, the place was busy, but thankfully, there wasn’t a line. It seemed especially popular among young Chinese professionals, who grabbed a quick meal. Once seated, I was given a freshly printed QR code to scan and place my order. I chose the thigh-and-drumstick set with an extra egg, plus the dried scallop sauna pork meatloaf.

The food came out surprisingly quickly, all neatly arranged on one big tray. The cucumber salad was refreshing and helped cut through any oil in the meal. The soup was light, flavourful, and—impressively—didn’t rely on MSG. The egg was perfectly cut and just added to the dinning experience. The meatloaf turned out to be a pleasant surprise; I especially enjoyed it with the three condiments: ginger, chilli sauce, and sweet soy.
But the star of the show was definitely the chicken. It was full of flavour and completely deboned. Paired with the condiments and the fragrant chicken rice, I was in food heaven.
I really do love a good chicken rice, and I have to say that All Day Chicken Lab does a delicious Hainanese chicken rice. The service is prompt, hassle-free, and reasonable, with in-and-out dining at its finest. Highly recommend this place for good chicken rice.
