It was my last meal in Hong Kong, and I ended up having Popeyes at the airport. The location has changed since the last time I had it here, and honestly, it’s still strange that Popeyes exists only at Hong Kong Airport and nowhere else in Hong Kong.

I ordered a set that came with one piece of chicken, a chicken tender, a side of chips, onion rings, and a Coke. I also added some wings and a biscuit.

I started with the chips—they were hot, well-seasoned, and nicely crunchy. The biscuit had a great crust and a warm, fluffy interior. The onion rings were solid. The chicken tender had good seasoning and crunch, and dipping it in honey made it even better. The wings were my favourite: spicy, hot, and perfect with the honey. Unfortunately, the chicken piece I got—a thigh—was overcooked and dry, which really annoyed me.

Maybe it’s just me, or perhaps time has passed, and Popeyes in Hong Kong just isn’t hitting the same anymore. I still want to try Popeyes again when I’m in the States to see if my opinion changes, but in Hong Kong, I know I won’t be getting it next time I’m here.
