I decided to give Matcha Republic a try, as it felt less traditional and offered a more modern take on matcha. I was especially keen to try their strawberry matcha. I also learned that they grind their own matcha in-house and source their milk from Hokkaido, which added to the appeal.

I ended up ordering the strawberry matcha and also picked up a small jar of their matcha to take home and try later. The drink was layered with strawberry jam at the bottom, then milk with lightly cooked strawberries, matcha cream, and finally freshly whisked matcha on top. Overall, it was a very satisfying drink. Once mixed, the strawberry elements blended smoothly, making it easy to drink, and the strawberries’ sweetness didn’t overpower the matcha.

Overall, it’s a really cool café where you can enjoy soft serve, various matcha drink options, and also purchase matcha products. It was pretty busy when I visited, but the staff clearly knew what they were doing and prepared the drinks at a good pace.
