This was my first time trying kushikatsu. I was in the Shinsekai area and looking for something to eat, so I did a quick Google search and discovered there were plenty of kushikatsu restaurants around. The area itself felt like a place for people who want to have fun, enjoy a few snacks, and soak up the atmosphere—it had a bit of a carnival vibe.

I decided to try this place because it had a good Google rating and was noticeably quieter than many of the other spots nearby. Interestingly, while reading the reviews, it seemed that locals rated it highly, whereas tourists were less enthusiastic. That didn’t bother me, so I decided to give it a go.

I ordered their “tasting” platter, which included 10 of what I assume were their most popular items, along with some mozzarella and a piece of squid.

Overall, the items were nicely battered with a good crunch and weren’t overcooked, making them very easy to eat—especially with the dipping sauce. The tasting platter included asparagus, chicken thigh, chicken breast, a small whole fish, a prawn (which was a bit tough and the only disappointing item), quail eggs, mushroom, meatballs, cheese, and what I believe was a fish ball. I particularly enjoyed the two different deep-fried cheese items and the squid.

It’s a great little place to eat. Even though I went for lunch, most people seemed to be there just to snack and drink beer. It’s clearly meant to be a relaxed, social experience—perfect for hanging out with mates and having a good time. Ordering was done via QR code, which was convenient, and while the service wasn’t outstanding, it was perfectly fine.
