I decided to find somewhere for lunch before heading to Atsuta Jingu Shrine. After a bit of Googling, I found a burger joint that looked great, but unfortunately by the time I arrived at around 2:00 pm it had just closed. Instead, I headed next door to a miso ramen eatery.
When I walked in, all the seats were taken, which was a good sign for that time of day. As soon as I placed my order at the vending machine, though, someone left and a seat opened up for me.
I ordered a bowl topped with crispy char siu, pork mince, and wontons. It didn’t take long to arrive, and as soon as it was placed in front of me, I was excited to dig in. The soup was packed with umami, thanks to the house-made miso paste blended into the broth. The chashu had a deep reddish colour, the egg looked incredibly tempting, and the generous amount of spring onions really tied everything together.

The broth was rich and full-bodied, with the miso flavour coming through strongly and a slight saltiness that worked well. The noodles were perfectly cooked with just the right amount of bite, and the egg was spot on, with a beautifully gooey yolk. While the char siu wasn’t quite crispy, that may have been lost in translation—but it was still incredibly tender and delicious and the wanton was just the skin but worked really well with everything else in the bowl.
Once everything was mixed together, the result was a deep, rich bowl of ramen that was incredibly satisfying and full of flavour. One thing I really appreciated was the chilli available at the table, which allowed me to add a spicy kick to balance out the richness of the miso.
Overall, this was a fantastic place to eat. The ramen was super tasty, the service was excellent, and I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. I only wish I could have this bowl of ramen more often.
