I honestly have no idea how this place ended up on my “to-try” list, but since I’m a big fan of tsukemen, I was keen to give it a go — especially as it was close to where I was staying. When I arrived, there was a bit of a queue. First was the line for the vending machine, with several tourists trying to figure it out (they only accept cash or IC cards), and then a separate line to get a seat inside the restaurant. Once I’d placed my order at the machine, a staff member took my ticket, and I only had to wait about 10 minutes before being seated.

I ordered the rich-broth tsukemen with pulled special char siu pork, along with a char siu pork rice bowl, as I wanted to try it as well. Once seated, the food arrived surprisingly quickly. The broth bowl was loaded with pork char siu, spring onions, and a whole egg. Pairing the thick, chewy noodles with the rich broth was absolutely divine. The noodles are served cold, and the broth isn’t piping hot, but I really enjoy the tsukemen style — dipping the noodles into the separate bowl of broth and slurping them as you go. There was also a wedge of lime included, which added a bright, fresh note and another layer of depth to the broth.

The char siu pork rice was a fantastic side dish and tasted great on its own. I added some chilli crisps, which took it to another level, and then poured a bit of the tsukemen broth over part of the bowl. That combination worked incredibly well — the sweetness of the pork balanced perfectly with the savoury richness of the broth.

Overall, I can see why this place is so popular with both locals and tourists. The entire meal was thoroughly enjoyable, and the service was excellent. It’s a really great place to eat, and I hope I get the chance to visit again someday.
