Chicking has opened in Wellington and interestingly in all places in Newtown. It is a franchise Fried Chicken Fast Food Restaurant serving Fried Chicken but with a bit twist which is different to KFC. I have discovered it is a franchise from the Middle East and is fully Halah. The whole place has been gutted out and redone and looks tidy and bright. However, it will be interesting to see if they can sustain that.
I decided to go on the first day to see if it was worth visiting, knowing too well that they were cooking to impress. I ordered the Super Crunchy: One Piece Chicken, One Royal Burger, One Regular Mash And Gravy And One Regular French Fries. I also wanted to order some wings, but apparently, they didn’t have any and had run out.

I got two pieces of chicken, not one, so it’s a bonus. However, I initially thought the chicken was nice and had a nice, crunchy skin. It was seasoned very well and had a slight kick as I ordered the spicy version. The potato mash was interesting, with the gravy having a real spice kick. The fries were good, but a small serving and had a nice seasoning, but the burger was average and cold.
Overall thoughts, actually not bad. I don’t think I will ever go and try their burgers again, not because of my recent experience; it is just that burgers don’t really interest me anymore. The chicken is worth visiting again for especially with their price point and seasoning. I feel the chicken is better than KFC’s original recipe and Hot and spicy so good to have an alternative. I will need to go back and try their rice dishes and toasties.
