While exploring Akihabara and browsing the various electronics and anime shops, I started looking for somewhere to eat. After checking out a few places online, I came across Uogashi Nihonichi. I was in the mood for something lighter since the weather wasn’t too cold.
When we arrived at 11:30 a.m., there was no line, which was a pleasant surprise. We discovered that this was a standing-only sushi spot, but that worked perfectly for us. The restaurant had space for about 15 people to stand and three sushi chefs, which meant one chef for every five diners—a great setup for personalised service.

I ordered the regular set lunch menu, which included tuna, squid, fatty salmon, white fish, albacore tuna, raw tentacles, shiny fish, shrimp, conger eel, tuna, and egg, all served with wasabi and accompanied by a bowl of miso soup. The sushi assortment was fantastic, and my favourites were tuna, squid, shrimp, and salmon. The miso soup had a piece of fish in it, which was a delightful surprise, though it was a touch salty for my taste.
I also decided to try a few extras: raw salmon with salmon roe, minced tuna on top of fatty tuna, and sea urchin with tuna or wasabi. All three were excellent and left a lasting impression.
Overall, I was thoroughly impressed with this place. Watching the chefs prepare fresh sushi to order was a highlight, and I appreciated the option to customise with or without wasabi. By the time we finished, the restaurant’s line had started to grow, so arriving early turned out to be a great decision. This spot is worth checking out!
