I was wandering around town looking for somewhere to have dinner and had originally planned to eat at Eden Noodles. However, Master Pig Pork Rice caught my eye. After taking a quick look outside, I discovered they offer unlimited rice with sauce, plus optional unlimited soft drinks and unlimited soft serve ice cream. That was enough to convince me to give it a try.
As I walked in, I was greeted by a self-ordering kiosk. I ordered the three meats on rice, which came with pork belly, pork brisket, and another cut of pork that I can’t quite remember. I also ordered a Chinese hamburger filled with pork intestines and added the unlimited soft drink option.
At the back of the restaurant, I found a self-service station stocked with kimchi, potato salad, bean salad, pickled vegetables, and a variety of sauces and chilli oil. I couldn’t resist trying a bit of everything. My favourite was easily the potato salad. It was made with mashed potato and a fiery chilli that packed a serious punch, but it was absolutely delicious.

Once my order was ready, my number was called, and I was surprised by just how generous the portions were. I started with the Chinese hamburger, which was fantastic. The pork intestines were incredibly flavourful, and the bun was soft and fresh. I even added some kimchi and potato salad inside, which took it to another level.
The three meats on rice was enormous, and I wasn’t even sure I’d need another bowl of rice despite the unlimited refills. Every cut of pork was delicious, although the pork belly was easily my favourite. The broccoli was nicely cooked, and the egg rounded out the meal well. However, the real game changer was adding the extras from the self-service station. It completely transformed the dish. Putting potato salad on top of pork and rice sounds like carb overload, but somehow the combination worked incredibly well. I thought I’d been generous with my serving of potato salad until I saw other customers piling it on even higher!

Overall, this was a really enjoyable and reasonably priced meal, especially if you’re a fan of pork like I am. I’d definitely come back to try the pork knuckle or even the trotters. This visit was more about getting familiar with how the restaurant worked, so I played it relatively safe. If you enjoy experimenting with different flavours and combinations, I’d highly recommend trying Master Pig Pork Rice. The self-service toppings let you customise your meal exactly how you like it, making every bowl a little different.
And no, I didn’t go for an extra bowl of rice.
