After taking 10 minutes to order the food and then another 35 minutes to get it. I finally reunite myself with a Fergburger. We decided to go at 12, which I know is slightly stupid but because we had little kids it was the only time to go. We ended up ordering five burgers chips and onion rings. The last time I went, I did not need to line up nor wait longer than 5 minutes for a burger but I did last go in 2007 and this place has become more popular with time.
A double serving of prime New Zealand beef,a lashing of bacon, a whole lotta cheese, 2 eggs, beetroot, lettuce, tomato, red onion, relish & a big wad of aioli
I knew this was going to be a challenge but I was prepared to give it a go. I was not going to come away without trying to take the master down. When I got everyone’s order mine was definitely bigger thank everyone else’s when they were in their bags. Also when I ripped open the bag my burger was massive and wastrying hard to fall over while taking a photo. Overall the burger was fantastic, it was so yummy. The patties were cooked well done, which I think they always do and was nicely seasoned with lots of cracked pepper and nothing else. Everything in the burger was fresh besides the beetroot which was canned but was predicted. The eggs were fully cooked so no mess and had lots of cheese and bacon. This burger was hard to eat but I did manage to eat all of it.
There was a good helping of onion rings here with a good amount of aioli to go with them. They were nicely crumbled and nicely seasoned. I only had two in the end because I was so full from the Big Al.
Overall a good burger experience at Fergburger. I also tried The Codfather which is their fish burger and is made of blue cod. I had a bite and it was really nice and fresh. I also tried their fries which were good and crispy. The pricing of the burgers I think are quite reasonable for the size especially if you compare it to Wellington or Auckland prices. I do feel though that Fergburger are slightly over hyped especially because of the long lines and the long wait for food but the burgers are good and everything is fresh because of the high turn over of food. But it is a Queenstown experience which everyone should do at least theone like luge or bungy jumping.
