Found myself to be staying the top of Queen Street and needed a feed, so I thought I would try Uncle Man’s again. Last time, I was rather impressed with this place so was excited to give it another try but many years later. First off, this place looks exactly the same, still quite busy (under Covid situations) with a steady flow of customers. However, they had not opened the second room.
I decided to order the Seafood Curry Laska and a piece of roti. When the Laksa arrived, I was actually disappointed, the size of the bowl was small compared to other places like Selera and Mamak. Also, why add they add alfalfa on top as a garnish. Weird in my opinion.

The laksa overall, was good. I loved the soup, which had a few curry leaves in there and also loved the spice. It was nice and creamy and had quite a depth to it. The egg noodles and bean sprouts were good, but not a fan of the rice noodles that were also in there. The seafood was not visible but when moving things around with my soup I found that they were at the bottom. Overall a good Curry Laksa. The roti was also good, freshly made to order and had a nice crispness and flavour to it.
Overall though, not sure if I would go back to be honest, it was good but there are some better places in Auckland. If I lived there, I may go more often but because you only want to eat at the good places when you are visiting I would go somewhere else.
