I seem to be on a Korean Food journey at the moment. It really has taken me on a journey and I just love their version of the Fried Chicken. So I decided to give Monster Chicken a try at their Riccarton Eatery in Ōtautahi. When I went for lunch there were already quite a few people their especially Korean speakers, so I had a hunch that this place would be good.

I ordered some Kimcheesy Arancini and their Fried Tender Chicken; Parmesan Cheese. The arancini sounded really interesting even though I wasn’t that hungry I just wanted to give it a try. The arancini with kimchi, cheese and gochujang mayo really worked. It was such a great idea and I loved the different flavours that came through. Next was the chicken tenders. I actually wanted the chicken pieces, but they don’t do it at lunch. Anyway. the chicken was nicely cooked and I really liked it with parmesan cheese and they only used dark meat parts of the chicken. One little thing, I would have preferred it with just the thinly sliced parmesan and not adding the plastic tasting parmesan powder. I loved how you got the traditional gochujang sauce on the side so you could also dip or what I did, pour it over your chicken. Also, the housemade pickles were a good contrast to add to the plate.

I ended up eating everything and rolled out of the restaurant. I ended up walking back to town just to work some of it off. It was just so good.
