Not sure how this bakery/doughnut shop first got on my radar, but since it was close to Chinatown where I was staying, I thought I’d give it a try. First off, I love the name and the saying that there’s a “fat kid” in all of us. It definitely made eating these feel a little more guilt-free!
I decided to try their Classic Bombo and the Kaya Salted Butter. The first thing you notice when you pick them up is how incredibly light they are. They’re so fluffy when you bite into them.
The Classic was light and fluffy, with a generous sprinkling of sugar on the outside. It was so easy to eat that I could probably get through at least half a dozen of these in one sitting!

The Kaya Salted Butter felt like a particularly fitting choice, given that it’s a Singaporean company. Once again, the bombo was wonderfully fluffy, although slightly heavier because of the filling. But when you take that first bite and get the combination of kaya and salted butter, it’s such a great pairing. I loved the butter’s saltiness, which balanced really nicely with the sweet, fragrant kaya.
Overall, these are seriously good doughnuts. I later discovered that they’re sourdough-based, and they’re beautifully deep-fried without tasting oily at all. The shop also has a great mix of flavours, including some savoury options, which looked really interesting.
I’d definitely go back — and who knows, maybe I’ll squeeze in another visit before I head back home!
