As my holidays continues as do my eating adventures. The one thing I do not like about being on break is you seem to spend more money even if you stay in town. I decided to try Field & Green. I did try to have dinner there last week but discovered that they actually only do day time meals. So I organised with an old colleague to go there for lunch.
Sautéed Duck Livers on char-grilled sourdough, caramelised onion, crispy bacon and merlot vinaigrette
I decided to only go for an entree for lunch as I was not all that hungry and was planning to have a dessert as well. The duck livers were cooked beautifully; slightly pink on the inside and had really nice seasoning. The caramelised onion was just outstanding and with the merlot vinaigrette, chargrilled sourdough and livers this dish was beautiful. Great flavour combination that worked so well. The only thing is after eaten it and blogging about it, I realised I got no bacon.
Gingerbread Cake
I was tempted to try the ice cream. However, it was a bit too cold outside to eat it. The gingerbread cake was very nice but more of a gingerbread loaf, and actually would of preferred butter instead of cream or yogurt. Anyway I had it with cream and it was very nice.
Overall I was very impressed with this place, I am not sure when I will be able to try it again as going to eat somewhere during the day is quite difficult for me. The staff were very good and very knowledgeable of the menu. Also the menu changes regularly by the looks of it due to the date on top of the menu. A big thumbs up for me.
