This year saw the introduction of the Wellington Noodle Night Market. The Night Market has been doing it’s rounds around New Zealand and now it is in Wellington for a few days. I thought I would go and have a look on the first night and see what is on offer. I saw a line forming in front of Hoy Pinoy, which had about six charcoal barbecues going and cooking satays, so I thought I would give it a try. This food stall is also from Australia so I thought this was another reason I would give them a try.

There were two different stays on offer and decided to give them both a try. It was also nice to see they do not use peanuts in the marinade which was a real bonus for me.

The flavour from the charcoal was great and is the first thing you really notice from the satay. The chicken was nicely cooked and not dry, the flavour from the marinade was very nice but nothing really special or me wanting more.

Again the charcoal flavour you get from the way the satay is cooked is great. I enjoyed this one better than the chicken one. The flavours were more unique and different. The pork was also nicely cooked and not burnt on the outside.

Overall these were not bad, nothing to rave on about but good.  I did think both flavours were more on the sweet side and I would of preferred something with more savoury flavours.
