I was heading off to Queenstown on a family trip and followed Momma Bear into the lounge as her plus one. I had discovered that Air New Zealand had just opened their new regional lounge in Wellington with their new interior. However, their Wellington domestic lounge is still to be refurbished but it doesn’t look too run down and has one of the best views of any airport runway in New Zealand.

The lounge has a lot of space, numerous different seating areas with different layouts and  a baristas that makes coffees to order which has become a regular feature in Koru lounges. However, how is the food?

As I was there at lunch their were three of the four serving areas with food. One side had savouries like muffins, scones, slices, cheese and crackers. The other side had Club sandwiches, rolls and fresh fruit. There was also soup available to have on a bench top. Plus there is also a full bar of wines, beer, soft drinks and juices.

I did try the soup, well I actually had two bowls of the soup. The soup was corn, coconut and cardoman. I also added some cream fresh and croutons to mine. I really liked the soup and was well seasoned. Momma Bear, however, found it quite rich.

I also tried the numerous sandwiches. There was egg and ham and a vegetarian option of tomato chutney and some mesculan. Overall average sandwiches nothing really to rave about. I also tried their roll which was filed of chicken, mayonnaise and olives with mesculan and maybe some cream cheese. Overall I liked this roll. However, it was very hard to eat. I also tried the cookie and cream slice and that was rather nice even though I am not a fine of that flavour. The cheeses on offer were very nice and a nice end to my snack.

Overall not a bad lounge. However when you are comparing this lounge to the Auckland international lounge. This one is sub par.
