Bernadette, B1 and I have not managed to catch up for a very long time even though we work at the same place. As we all had a day off work, I decided we should have a catch up. We were originally going to go to Zany Zeus but once I arrived I discovered that they are closed on a Tuesday. So while we were outside we joined heads and decided to go to Seashore Cabaret but then I remembered about Comes and Goes. Bernadette had not tried the place either and like me had heard go things about the place so we decided to give it a try.
The decor inside is very modern and the cabinet food /sweets looked really good. It had a relaxed atmosphere and it was not too full, but not surprised as it was a Tuesday. The service was still very good and the food came out really fast.
Bronut
I saw this in the cabinet and I had to give it a try. I didn’t dear eat all of it and give some to Bernadette and B1. All three of us really enjoyed it. It was a brioche pastry with caramel inside piped into the donut, covered in sugar with an edible flower on top. This was one of the best donuts I have eaten.
Crispy Pork Belly Benedict
Ciabatta Roll, Crispy Pork Belly, Poached Eggs, Hollandaise Sauce, Spinach, Green Apple Slices, Mango Puree, Poached Apples and House-made Tomato Chutney
When this arrived on the top, I was really impressed with the plating of this dish. It looked appetising and I just had to take a picture. I really liked the edible flowers in their dishes and I was really surprised how generous they were with their servings. As a dish, this was outstanding. The pork was nicely cooked with the crispy skin and the slice of green apple worked really well. There was a really good amount of hollandaise sauce, and the poached eggs were nicely cooked. The tomato chutney went really well with the toasted ciabatta and the mango puree was a great addition. As I said this was a great dish and I believe the best eggs benedict in Wellington.
Flat White
This looked nicely made and had a good colour to it. They use Rocket Coffee beans here and I have never heard of them before. Even though this flat white looked good, unfortunately it did not stand up. It just did not have the bitterness nor strength that Wellington roasted beans have.
Overall I can see why people go to this place and why it is so popular. The food is great and Bernadette and B1 also believed so. This place is a food photographers dream here. They plate their food really well and the contrast in their colours with the food is unbelievable. I will definitely go back and hopefully this places stays for a while and not comes and goes.
