First night in DC with my travelling group and we had to find something for dinner. Half of the group wanted to try Five Guys, but due to my peanut allergy, I had to go somewhere else so I took the other half to Nando’s. Nando’s was pretty busy when we arrived and still easy accommodated my group of around 18 people but we had to sit at separate tables which I wasn’t going to complain due to wanting some adult time.
1/2 Chicken: Mild with Fries
Although everything on the plate is yellow. Everything on it was good. The chicken was grilled really nice and was moist and tender. The medium sauce on the chicken was good and I also added some Lemon and Herb sauce with Hot Sauce and it made a nice mix. The fries were nicely cooked and seasoned with Peri Peri salt. Overall a really nice meal.

Traditional Portuguese Tart served warm with a sprinkle of Cinnamon Sugar
I remember a long time ago Brother Bear talking about Nando’s and how he liked their Portuguese Tart when he lived in the UK. I have never tried them because they do not serve them in New Zealand. These tarts, although small, were really good. The flakey pastry was great and I loved the egg custard filling. Then add the cinnamon sugar and this was a great little treat.
I can see why Nando’s is popular especially overseas. It was just so good. I have had it in New Zealand. However, it is not as good here. My student’s loved their fountain machine as it makes nearly every drink that the Coca-Cola brand makes in the US including Mellow Yellow and you can even add different flavour syrups to it. The service is good and so much better than the typical fast food joints in America.
