Went back to Pomelo for dinner with some old friends that I had not been able to see for a while. We managed to get a table at the window. They had slightly updated the menu since I have last been there for their a la carte menu but still had their popular dishes on there. I decided to get my own plates, purely because I really didn’t want to share, but also I wanted a dish that had gluten in it.

Soft Shell Crab, Corriander, Chilli Mayo and Cabbage

I decided to go with a dish that I have had before and really enjoyed. Just like the last time the crab was cooked really nicely and had a nice batter with good seasoning. I love the sauce that they use with the crab as it has a slight spice kick to it and compliments the crab well.  Also, I like the shallots the put on top of the sauce.

Yum Yum Prawns, Spaghetti, Mushrooms, Sesame

I was surprised to see a spaghetti dish at Pomelo so I decided to give it a try. I think it is a bit of a twist on the prawn flavoured Yum Yum instant noodles. The prawns were nicely cooked and I love how the mushrooms were slightly undercooked and had a more earthy flavour. The spaghetti was nicely cooked and I loved the deep-fried lotus root. The sauce was rich and had a nice sour kick to it. Overall a great dish with just the right amount of sauce.

Vanilla Bean Panna Cotta, Meringue, Raspberry Compote

A great dish to end a nice dinner. The pannacotta was nice and smooth and had a really subtle vanilla flavour. I loved combining it with the meringue which added a bit of sweetness and the compote which added the tartness. overall a great dessert.

Again another great meal at Pomelo. I do love coming to this place. I also came recently for their Wellington on a Plate offering and the burger was really good. I love the fusion of flavours and mixture of Asian and Europe cuisine. As always, great service and a nice place to eat.
