I was walking around the Maxwell Centre in Chinatown, Singapore and decided to eat at this place and that was because of the number of people lining up. No other place was this busy including Tian Tian so I had to give it a try. I was lining up for at least 20 minutes and I don’t think I was the only tourist just lining up because of all the locals wanting to give this place a try.
You get to create the dish or meal that you want from numerous items that you can add from the menu. Basically, you would add the rice and the curry sauce and everything else you chose. I decided to go with the rice and the curry sauce, then I added the pork chop, pork belly and some steamed egg. It was all under $5 and pretty much a deal but enough if you want a light lunch. Also, the plating was not that pretty and they seem to add a bit of curry sauce on the plate before adding the rice to ensure you get some good flavour.
The rice was really nice. I loved the steamed egg as it was fluffy and soft. The pork belly was ok but the pork chop was nice and crispy. Looking back I wish I could add an extra serving of the pork chop as it was good. The curry sauce was nice and had some good depth flavour room the spices and had a good kick but I think more would have made it better. Overall a nice plate of rice with some curry sauce.
