Last stop in Hawkes Bay before I drove home. I had been recommended to go try Ye Bon, one for their food, but also as it is connected to Cupple. Cupple is another Firsthand coffee espresso bar, which is owned by Firsthand. The decor is sleek as you can look into the bakery, and the seating is contemporary but can be pretty cold on a winter’s day.
I order a Flat White and an Almond Croissant. I have to say the Almond Croissant was exceptional, and really liked the fluffiness on the croissant and the butteriness of the almond paste. It was the perfect mix of textures. The Flat White was really good and loved the darkness of the crema.
Also, I ordered a Brown Sugar pinwheel and ate it when I arrived home. It was really good but not as flavoursome as the almond croissant but would have been something nice to eat for breakfast which was more on the lighter side. Overall, I wish I could order more things to try, but home was calling and had to leave the bay.
