Wanted a good coffee around Sky City as I was staying on Federal Street. Did a google search and found that 3 Bean was two blocks down and as I had not tried them, I decided to go for a walk to see what they taste like. When I arrived, I did not know it was where they actually roast the beans as well. It is a small shop but quite easy to access by some steps from street level.
Flat White
Subtle hints of bitterness but mostly a smooth coffee. Has hints of chocolate and caramel but severely lacks the punch required for me to enjoy it. Not sure if it is the lack of coffee in the espresso shot or a single shot espresso. Plus the crema lacked the dark colour I expect from a flat white and more light brown than brown.
Almond Croissant
This was a nice almond croissant and nice for breakfast. I suspect that they do not make them and I wonder where they get them from.
I was hugely disappointed with this coffee as it was rated very highly as a good coffee provider. However, if you compare it to other coffee outlets in Auckland it maybe the reason why it is rated highly. As I have said before, I do not really like how Auckland coffee lacks the punch. If you are looking for a better coffee in Auckland try Eightthirty.
